Gold Hill Historical Society Museum is housed in the Beeman-Martin home which was built by Mr. Beeman in 1901 with wealth from his “Lucky Bart” gold mine on Sardine Creek. The Society bought the building in 1993 and now have a fully restored kitchen, a collection of mining equipment and many important artifacts documenting Gold Hill's colorful past. A stamp mill built in 1892 on the Beeman Gold Mine has been reconstructed and is the focal point of an outdoor mining exhibit. In 1999, Jackson County deeded the Galls-Hays Cemetery on Hodson Road to the Society. First it was owned by the Jacob Gall family, then the Hays family. Some accounts state the first burial was a cattle drover around 1837.
