Southern Oregon Historical Society

106 N. Central Avenue

Medford, OR 97501

(541) 773-6536

The Southern Oregon Historical Society is committed to preserving the rich heritage of this seven-county region, spanning from Curry County, which touches the Pacific Ocean, to Malheur County, which borders Idaho. Their exceptional collections tell stories about early settlers and their encounters with the Native people who populated the area; railroads and the commerce they brought with them; the pear orchard industry that still lays claim to being the area's biggest business; the more recent evolution of wineries; and the personal stories of the thousands of people who call this region home. The Society has undergone great change over the past 5 years - becoming more modern in their ambitions. The Society currently operates the historic Hanley Farm near Central Point and the Research Library in downtown Medford.
